Adult Learning

Many learn in a variety of ways, I have even used crayons and modeling clay in class.

then use what gives you ythe ability too get them lesson across

I use balloons to model mitosis/meiosis. Although they are adults I do sometimes have to remind them to remain professional throughout the activity in order to prevent jokes that may offend others. I also have respiration/photosynthesis placemats to color.

Hi Vonda,
That is the challenge of being in such a fast moving and evolving field. I commend you for using your students as resources. This is a win win situation for everyone. The students get to share their knowledge and your class gets the benefit of the latest information.

This may work in different classes but it would be difficult to use this type of activities in IT. I have found that if students can take a computer apart and see the working parts it is helpful for them to understand some of today's technology. Many of my students have some knowledge that is more current then my own experiences. I try and get some of them to discuss their experiences with technology.

Wow! I think that it is great that you use diffirent hands on tool to get the students juices flowing. I will have to somehow come up with something on my own.

I use stickers in alot of my classes...I teach all hands-on courses and incorporate stickers alot of the time. We use them to locate Trigger Points in muscles, acupressure points on the body, etc. The students (no matter their age) all love it!
