Creativity
Finding way to help students express creativity is a great motivator. However, it’s not always easy getting them to express it. If you can have students expressing themselves this way I think motivation will elevate.
One example I have seen that I loved. In pharmacology the medications can have long names, and multiple effects. A fellow instructor gave a assignments to groups to create fictional (fairy tale) type of story where the main character was the medication and the events in the story are based on what effects a medication may have. Finally, the story must include a portion where main character fights of negative/side effects of the drug. I found this brilliant.
This is wonderful! There is an instructor at my school that allows the students to brainstorm ways to remember terms. The students love it and it is very effective.
Hi Jayson,
This is a great idea with many benefits. Not only do the students learn about the medications but they also use their creativity and communication skills. All things they need to develop is they are going to be successful in the work place.

I think that finding ways for students to express some creativity in the subject matter that they are learning helps a great deal. One way that I let my students be creative is when teaching them Microsoft Word on assignment I give them is to design a poster or flyer in Word. The project lets them be creative and choose there own topic and forces them to use the skills they have learned so far .
Hi Jayson!
I think this is a great example! What a wonderful way to learn difficult terms and have fun.
Right now, I'm instructing in the online environment, so I'm finding that calling students and asking how they are doing is a good motivator. Most have really appreciated the call and now know that I really do exist.
Have a good day!
