I like to keep things upbeat and positive as possible, so i stay engaged with the students.

An instructor needs to have a plan or map of where he wants to take his class. He has to consistantly ask questions to see if the class is following his map. New motivation has to be seen around every corner so the next street looks welcoming and exciting.

I think that having some fun in the classroom helps the learning environment. It does not have to be total fun and games, but I think allowing the students to have fun with the learning experience is a good thing.

Interaction is the key. I try to get students involved in a group discussion and then just control where it goes so that it is pertinant to what we are learning.

being interactive with the students is key keeping them involved with questions and answers and working at the board seems to work well

That works well to keep them motivated and awake. When the subject is interesting or the presenter is more animated, the more attentive the students seem to be also.
