Bring current industry memebers into the class room is a great student motivator. What are some tips on preparing a guest speaker to give positive directed feedback to students?
Many guest speakers that I invite into the classroom have been former instructors themselves, so they already have a good grasp on ways to answer student questions in a motivating manner. Some of my best guest speakers have been people from the Graphic Design field who share their experiences, and show examples of their work. This always generates excitement among the students.
Student motovation in my opinion is the most important factor in any student learning . understand one canot motovate a student , we can only bring in situations so he can motovate himself.
Keeping in mind that the ultimate goal of most career college students is job placement and increased earnings, you could ask the guest speaker to discuss how the courses at career colleges prepare students for a variety of job opportunities and career advancements which could drastically improve the students' earning status. Your guest speaker could name some of the jobs that would become available to the students upon graduation.
