Motivation is more important in the first few days to establish the mode.

Good way to use a resource that really speaks to the students. Graduate show the current students what success is about and how they need to continue their efforts so they to can be successful.

At some time during the 3rd or 4th week of a course, I bring in past graduate students who speak to my classes to let the students see what they are learning in class is relevant to their medical career. That has been one of the best tools I have used for motivation and reinforcement. They are seeing individuals actually doing what they are going to school for.
Showing motivation to students makes them motivate
it is important in the first few days but throughout the course some reinforcement is needed
