I believe that sharing stories about different experiences in your professional life can and does help motivate students to work harder to attain their goal.
Hi Sherry,
I agree with the use of your own professional experiences in the classroom. Students like to hear that their instructor has had experience in the field and how that experience is reflected in the course content and assignments.

I often use personal and professional experiences to relate to the students. It helps to build a rapport with the students while offering them a sense of support and motivation. This also helps the student see past their current circumstances.
I also agree. I am an instructor but I also continue to be active in the career work force. I learn someting new everyday from my consumers (patients) and I can then take back to those learning what I learned!
I agree. As a learner and as an instructor, students always enjoy hearing the real-life examples of how massage (in my case) has helped clients become pain free. It's also important to share professional blunders (though I admit I sometimes change names!!) so they'll have an idea of what NOT to do in a similar situation!
