Staying positive helps motivate students

Never displaying negative disappointment in students poor learning’s or lack of comprehension is a must for student success

Kristina,
Good way to bring balance to how students see you, the instructor as well as themselves. We are all human as you say and we do make mistakes. The more we can learn and grow from those mistakes the better prepared we all will be in our chosen professions.

Positive acting,,,, gets positive results, just like negative,,,gets negative results!

But, I truly think it is important to also remind our students that we are also HUMAN!!!

No one is perfect, we do live on "a stage" but by reminding our students that we are human, it also lets them know, that they can be human as well! Especially the student that puts unreasonable expectations upon themselves or allows "others" to!

Grace,
This is so important because if we bring our issues in so will the students and then instead of class you have a gripe/complaint session. This stops the learning process very quickly.

Yes we do and some days are harder than others. We must leave our own personal issues at the door!!

Grace,
Good reminder for all of us. We need to remember we are always "on stage" with our students whether in class or in the hallways.

This is so true but it is something we must constantly be aware of. Our facial expressions sometimes give away to how we are judging our students and therefore create a negative impact

I agree. Sometimes one feels like the student must not have studied. However, usually the problem is that they have poor comprehension of the material. I try to find out if they studied enough or were they too busy with other responsibilities. Either way I realize that now they are behind and our goal now is to get them in synch with the rest of the class. One can give them assignments which further reinforce those particular lessons; one could also offer one-to-one course tutoring. Either way one wants to be a problem solver; the goal is to get the student actively back into the class.

VERONICA,
This supportive approach will help them to become more engaged in the learning process because you have reduced their level fear through your encouragement.

I agree i get students that are learning english and sometimes are affraid to ask questions. so being positive with them i encourge them to ask the question in the best of their ablities

I agree. If a student feels that there are some negative vibes then they start to get negative as well. If the instructor or other classmates are positive then they become positive about it as well.

Staying positive is a must for students. They can easily slip into a negative mind frame. It is importatnt remain supportive and postivie for our students.

You are correct. It also shows the type of behavior that is not acceptable period.
