Finding Motivation

I think it is important to stay current with trends, local purveyors, and fads. Sharing this information will better help the student to stay interested in the classic things as well. Showing the natural progression of the food industry.

Your last sentence hits on a really important point. The majority of the work we do is based upon the ability to do critical thinking and problem solving. The more experience we can provide our students with both the better prepared they are going to be when they are out in the work world.

Giving the students the opportunity to use the fundamentals learned in the class and think outside the box helps to keep the students interested. It also gives them the chance to apply the knowledge in a setting with no risk of failure that a professional setting wouldn't offer.
