Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm is the learning environment is key to successful teaching. Passing through to the students your excitement for the content and subject matter draws students in and keeps them attentive on learning and achieving.

Absolutely, If you aren't excited about the information, how can the student be engaged? Obviously there are the courses that you prefer not to teach, but are assigned. So then it takes a bit more preparation and creativity to lighten the load. Again, I try to relate the information back to the students personal experience. When it is personal it is always more exciting. "Hey...they are talking about me." "Yeah...I had that happen." "Hmmm...I never thought of it like that..."

Everybody has a story and wants to share it.

Michael,
So true. If we don't bring passion and excitement for what we are teaching it is for sure the students won't. Besides it is fun to be excited about getting to teach something you love.

Absolutely. I can think of instructors who I had who didn't seem very excited about their subject area. As a student, it was difficult for me to get excited it the instructor wasn't even excited!
