Motivating through reinforcement

I always provide feedback no later than the next time the class meets. It's important for the student to realize their performance.

Marsha,
You make a good point because one of the big values of feedback is how quickly it is provided. You effort to have it available the next class is to be commended. You are keeping your students engaged because they are looking forward to hearing about how well they did the next time they meet.

I try as well to provide feedback no later than the next class. Students look forward to seeing how they are progressing and what they may need to work on to improve.

Ryan,
You have a great system for providing feedback. These methods keep the students engaged and focused on learning.

I for one, provide feed back one of three ways. First is during class debates I will give praise for correct responses and even statements like, "you're on the right track keep it up" and "great question / answer". The second is passing back tests right after I grade them on break. The third is I talk to every student at the end of the week when I give them a progress report.

Marc,
Great timing on your part. Quick feedback helps to keep students engaged and understanding their status in the course.
