Motivating Adult Learners

Adult learners can be motivated when their instructor shares not only knowledge, but life experience about their field. By doing this, students can more concretely see themselves doing the job and it becomes more "real".

Sandra,
Stories and examples shared by instructors show students that their instructors have in fact have had experience in the area in which they are teaching. In addition, these stories help to make the content come alive and have relevancy to the students.

Combining life experience references with learning topics is a great way to bring the instructor closer to the students. Students need to see the "human" side of the instructor and this is certainly one of the ways to have that happen.

Hi Alina,
Yes, I agree as the expert in the field or instructor to share your experience so the students get an idea of the work field. It captivates them and engages them to think about what it will be like when they graduate.
