Motivation through Support and Resources

I don't spoon feed my students. If they need help, I provide them as many resources as I can.

Shari,
With this approach you are helping them to understand what the work world is going to be like. You are providing them to develop their problem solving skills and learn how to work with others. These are soft skills needed for career success so you are providing both content and career development through your approach.

I do not coddle my students either, but when they come to me I do explain further if needed. I don't always give them the answers. I believe in making sure they understand what is needed and expected and I give them the tools they need to complete the work and retain it.

Peter,
This is how instructors should approach helping students. These are adults that have elected to attend college and take these courses. They need to be held accountable for their own success. College is not high school and they are not entitled to an A just because they paid tuition. This is a hard sell to many students they only want to buy an education not earn one.
