motivation

motivating a student who wants to learn is easy. but trying to motivate a student who is not willing to put in time and effort into education is a challenge. I have always said that "they did not want to like me but they did". you have to get into their brains and find out what makes them want to be there in the first place. help them figure out what is important in their life.

Adult Learner come into educational programs with their own life experiences. They have to be motivated and encouraged to share their knowledge and apply their life experiences that are appropriate to their educational learning experience.

Allowing them to share validate the relevancy of the program they are in and hopefully motivate them to do the very best they can do to successful in school and be able to apply it in their real world employment experiences.

I agree Holly, I teach adults in my profession, and sometimes they are in our school because "someone" else wants them there. I have found that if I can make them see the benefits in "wanting" to be in our program, they tend to warm up and stay.
