Students that feel good about their choice to be in school
Sometimes just pointing out the reasons they made the decision to come to UTI and receive an education in their career choice brings out their best efforts. Keep it all positive.
Retention is another important section of teaching at private school and I always keep my students focused on the rewarding after graduate.

I like your idea of recording the students' expectations early in the course and then using their responses to encourage them later. I am currently trying this and will share the results.
I make notes the first day when students introduce themselves and I ask what they expect out of the course. I try to emphasis things in the course that can help them reach thier goal and if they seem to be drifting from that goal I talk with them one on one and make sure they stay focused
I agree. Reminding them of their goals and long term happiness in a field that they chose,will bring positive reinforcement!
I agree. When a student is discouraged, it is important to remind them of their primary goals and the importance of attaining them.
