Quiz Time

I tell every new class that I get that they will have daily quizes. I have noticed that they actually go home and read what we discussed in class, but of course there is always that one.....

Hi Randolph,
Good way to keep all of the students engaged and listening. Do the students get points for answering the questions or is it a part of the general class participation?
Gary

I give quizes at the end of a learning module using my role sheet. This works well because no one is left out and the questious are random so every one must pay attention to the material being presented so they can have an answer if the person can not answer the question then I open it for the class this keeps every one involved

I have also done on-time bonuses as well that go toward a project or test. This works well and you should see everyone trying to see if anyone knows if there is a on time bonus the day of teh class. Daily quizzes also help with the students retaining what they have learned from previous classes.

Hi Diane,
Good job of prepping your students for their quizzes. They are given the material, referred to it in their text and reviewed it by you. There should not be any reason that they won't do well on the quizzes.
Gary

I also tell my students that we have quizzes (not on a daily basis). The quizzes are every Monday so on Fridays I take the last half hour of the class and review with them, but I also tell them that it is their responsibility to read the chapters that the chapters have all the information that they will need to help them with the quizz. I have gone through the chapters and listed the page numbers on the master quizz, so if I get challanged from the student, I can revert back to the pages and show them the correct answers.

Hi Alfred,
Yes, there is always that one. The fun part about teaching is trying to reach that "one". We can't reach all students but we can try to the best of our professional ability to do so. The greatest reward comes when you do reach that "one". Do you have an example of when you were able to encourage and support a student that seemed not to want to succeed in the class?
