The instructor will likely be the first person a student comes into contacat with in reference to retention issues. Once the instructor has identified a student with a potential retention issue then the instructor should channel that student to the appropriate source for assistance.
What other appropriate sources of assistance besides tutors and student advisers are most effective?
Hi Penelope,
Instructors are the connection between a student leaving school and continuing. Instructors are the first to see issues that are starting to surface with that student and can start a plan of action to support that student as needed. This is why a referral program needs to be in place so if the issues are greater than what can be handled by the instructor that instructor can get the student referred to someone that can provide the needed help quickly.
