caring

if you care they care

very true. If do not care they will never like you as teacher.

The first day of my class go over the rules of the class one rule i have in my class is that if they do not understand what we are talking about that they have to stop me and we will go over it till they understand and then we will go on.

I believe caring for our students is number one for me.. I really enjoy hearing their life experiencing when they can relate it to there subjects.

People feed off of what you're giving them

Hi Andrew,
I can really appreciate your comments about caring. This is something that challenges me as well. When a student with much potential does not care about the field that he/she has chosen and will not put forth the effort to be successful this is unfortunate for them. They need to do thinking about where they are at and the career area they have selected. They would be better off finding a career field that really excites them and where they will apply themselves.

Sometimes it seems that the instructor cares more about the student's success than the students themselves do. It can be very difficult trying to get the student to put forth any effort, when they themselves are disenchanted with the program. This is probably the greatest challenge I face.

I think that showing how important it is to you that "they get it" shows them how much that you care.

True. Caring enough to set and maintain a level of enthusiasm will serve you well.

Maintaining a professional enviroment while providing an exceptional learning atmosphere is how I show the students that I care about them. No amount of "understanding" is going to mean very much if you do not offer them your very best in class.

This is so very true. As instructors; our ability to care says to our students, it's not just a paycheck but a passion. Their success is our success!

I agree too. If I show lack of interest in ithe instruction they they do not pay as much attention but is i show lots of interest & enthusiasm they will too.

I agree. Often time the attitude of the instructor dictates the attitude of the class.

I agree! There have been many times that I have rushed through a lecture, not putting much thought into it. When I show the students I care and am interested in what I am teaching, they comprehend the material better.
