Hold on to your dream
I try to show them that they made it this far what about the dream they had, look how much closer they are.
GIVE STUDENT POSTIVE FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT LETTING THEM NOW WHERE THEIR STRONG POINTS AND WEAK POINTS ARE AND HELP THEM IN THOSE AREAS AND TEL THEM THAT WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER AND DONT GET DISAPPOINT HOLD ON TO YOUR DREAMS
Learning what motivates a student is the key to success. Sometimes this is reminding them of their overall goals and sometimes it is just the daily goals they need to have reinforced. The dream of success, however it is defined to the individual student, should always be reinforced repeatedly to the student!
That is the reason why I have each of my students to keep up with there course load, and to keep track of there progression through the program in the form of having a school catalog, and following the path that is suggested for each of major. If the student is Pre-Nursing, I have the student to follow the curriculum for that major. This ensures that the student can follow " the yellow brick road" to ensure a timely manner of completion, and negates any unnecessary course enrollment.
As the students get farther into their program, the classes start coming together. Explaining to the students what they have learned up to this point has prepared them for this class. Explaining how this class is going to prepare them for their future career, shines the light even more.
