Respect your students
If you show respect to others, you get respect from others.
Yep, you should tell them, if they were here they would know if they missed somethinhg important or not.
Good post Michael. I often get frustrated when a student who has missed the previous class asks "Did I miss anything important yesterday?"
I find this one question had to handle.

Often times the respect gap is a generational thing...we need to think about how the different generations think differently...

My mother always taught me, "to respect myself, to respect others, and to respect the environment." I have come to realize how very true this statement is and practice it in the classroom.
Sometimes you have to explain to some of the students about how the respect circle works. Many of them do not understand that they have to earn respect as well as give it.
