I agree. Part of the challenge is finding unique ways to make the material fun and believe me I enjoy the challenge. However, I do find it easier to make it fun, when I find personal meaning in the subject matter as well as when I actually enjoy the subject I'm instructing.

Hi Patricia,
Good approach. A comfortable supportive environment directed by a caring professional educator is what students are looking for. You are giving them that with your teaching style. Keep up the good work.

I am also laid back and believe that keeping fun as part of your style is important and lets the students know that you can succeed and learn the information needed for the course while enjoy the atomsphere. I believe that is part of making your classroom a place they want to be and it's inviting for learning

Hi Jaceita,
Good point about how you see learning. Fun and learning do really go together to the benefit of everyone.

Hi Kenny,
This is a connecting point for the students. By seeing that you can lecture and discuss with them the content of the course they then can back up the information through the reading of their textbook.

I have a motto in classroom and that is to have fun. I believe that this is one of the best ways to learn. Remember when you learned your ABC's you had fun while singing the song you may not have realized you were learning. If you set the foundation for your students that they are here to learn but have fun too you can easily pull back the reign a bit and real them back in. It can be a little distracting but a good facilitator knows when to sway or stay on course. Try telling a joke or two and see how much more attention you will get. I think some student’s look at teachers as serious people who don’t know how to have fun.

I have found that my students like my teaching style because I dont use the textbook. However, I have pointed out to them that my lectures always include the information found in their textbooks and that it isnt hard to follow. They enjoy the more personal lecture style.

i try to make class fun for everybody, i let them know i am very laid back and like to have fun, but when its time to roll up our sleeves and go to work, that's what i expect.

I totally agree with this response in havung fun in the classroom. Very important that students enjoy while learning, its makes leraning that much more easy.

you sound like me I love to enter act with my student and have a good time while teaching

I also feel like I need to keep my personailty always on the up side so students pay attention

Jessica, does the fun ever get out of hand. I like to start with a joke or some ice breaker but sometimes I worry about the students lsong focus.

Hi Jessica,
Selling one's personality and instructional style is a part of teaching success. Sounds like you are doing a great job of entertaining while educating your students. Keep up the good work, laughter goes a very long way in keeping students engaged and focused.
