Engaging students

engaging students to add input and suggestions for there learning whether you agree with it or not will help the students feel more involved in the learning process

Engaging students is very important and is necessary in order for them to fully understand the learning experience. If they are not engaging and participating they will quickly loose interest and will not have the desire to learn.

Hi Debra,
I agree with your assessment as well. This is the fun part of teaching. Student relationships are what keeps us coming back to the classroom time after time.
Gary

Yes, I find that discussions and talking with students help retain them and creates a student/teacher relationship with them very easily.

Yes I found out if I do all the lecturing and discussing then students start to get bored and sleepy but when the actively participate in discussion then they are more likely to gain more confidence as a member of the class.

Hi Yonne,
This is a good way to engage students. As you mention it also helps them to see how they can contribute to the class and share content. This build the needed self confidence and increases opportunities for student success.
Gary

I have found that engaging students in the discussion is very effective in the learning process because it helps them retain what they have studied. I often let the student taka a topic and discuss it in class with the other students. This gives a positive feeling of self worth.

I AGREE WITH YOU THE STUDENT HAS TO KNOW WHAT'S RELEVANT AND THEY NEED TO BE KEPT INTERESTED IN THEIR CLASS.

When I teach I always try to involve opinions of student relevant to material. It keeps everyone on their toes an interested.
