human factor

I liked saying that the students are customers and that the human factor is the key to retention and it is done by building a rapport with them from the first day like retaining their names, get to know their experiences and backgrounds

I make it a personal goal to know my students names from the very first day and I have experienced how they view this as a positive. Some students have even expressed shock that I was able to know all of my students by name by the end of the first class. I also encourage my students to tell me about themselves, their loved ones and the career goals from the first day. I like to have a little personal connection to associate with each student to help me have some understanding of where the student is coming from and where they want to end up. I also give the students some insight to my background both personal et career so they will see me as a real person not just an authority figure.
