I enjoyed this exercise as it allowed a view into building up the students confidence to increase his participation.
I asked my students how much prior knowledge they had on the class activities' and how much research they will do before we start the activities. Most of the students researched the class projects and what they will need to know before we started the lab projects.
Kelly, great to hear the course was useful. Empowering students is key to properly preparing students for live after they achieve their degree. Students also tend to have great ideas and concepts to share if allowed to do so by getting them engaged and not hindered by an older style curriculum or set of lesson plans that are so focused on lectures and traditional exams.

Today I asked each student to research (5) questions for the final and we can discuss them tomorrow. I enjoyed this course and like many of the ideas about empowering students.
james, how might you use what you have learned in this exercise within the next 30 days of your own classroom? The sooner you make use of what you have taken away from this class the more impact it will have towards converting into positive outcomes.
