Intrinsic Instruction
I always try to include all my students in class activities.
I do the same Anthony. There are learning tools many of them hesitate to use because of time factors since most of my students are adults returning to school. I have links to the activities on my flash drive and use them in class as a fun tool as well as extra credit for exams--intrinsic + extrinsic. I don't use them in all classes, mostly in the early program classes. All of them involve either thinking activities or moving around activities to stimulate those kinesthetic learners who do well with movement and manipulation of tools of the trade. Some games such as Jeopardy work well also to help them see the potential benefit to them of thinking outside the book. In early classes like Medical Terminology I like to get them to think of words they already know and help break them down into the word parts they'll be using throughout the class and much of their curriculum before getting into the often more complicated terms in the book.
Intrinsic extrinsic. I think I get it. It will help me better understand my perception of my students.
Anthony, can you share some of the ways you include your students in class activities? Thanks for anything you can share.
