Student Customers
If you ask the right questions of your students you should identify that they have different needs and learning styles. That way you can adapt your style to better suit their needs. It is always important that you are approachable to all your student needs.
Hi Stephanie,
I love your proactive approach! I can tell you truly want nothing but the best for your students.

One of the ways I learn about my student's needs is to have them fill out an information sheet that has questions on it regarding why they are in that degree, what they hope to learn in the class, what is their personal experience with the subject, if any. I also invite them to speak with me personally if they feel that there is going to be a challenge of any kind with taking the class, whether it be personal (getting to class on time from work, childcare, possible learning issues or possibly having difficulty with the subject because they don't feel like they fully understood everything in the pre-requisite class.) This has helped me to provide what the student needs as well as let the student feel comfortable coming to me if there is an issue. It also helps me to not feel angry when a student constantly shows up to my class 10 minutes late or has to leave early because they have to get their child or caught the bus. I am able to arrange my class lectures or activities so that these students will not miss important information. For example, my piano students know that the first 30 minutes of class is practice time and the last 30 minutes of class is lab time so that no one misses what is being taught that class due to tardiness or having to leave early.
Hi Frank,
Great points! When I teach, I like to try to incorporate ways in my lecture that I can reach all the different types of learners.
