Students/customers

instructors should not consider the students as customers, b/c that interferes with the learning and the teaching process

Hi Thomas,
I concur! Our ultimate goal is to get our students ready for the real world.

I agree as I treat them as if they are in the work place to prepare them for that but, we must also treat them as students and customers. We fail them if they are not prepared for the real world.

Hi Scott,
I can see where students serve as both roles. Great points made. Bottom line, we must make our students our top priority.

I am not sure we should refer to students as customers.I think they are more like our business partner. They have a job to do and that is to learn, we as teachers have a job to do and that is to teach them the information they need to be sucessful in our business relationship. So again i am not sure it is customer or partner?

Hi Bruce,
Nicely stated! We have to let our students know that we are there for them, but they must put forth great effort to succeed. Students really are the most important people in the building.

I believe that students should be treated as customers. They are paying for a service. To receive the most return on their investment is to to show up for class everyday and on time. To focus on what is being taught and take notes ask questions. Make use of the resources that is available to them including tutoring. They need to understand they can only get out of their education is what they put into it.

Hi Anna,
Students are really our customers, but we treat them where all rules, policies, and procedures are followed. It is fine to be friendly to students and treat them with the utmost respect.
