Focusing on the positive
I find that many students tend to focus on only the negative things when they turn in dishes to me. I try to direct them not only to the things they could improve but the things that are worth repeating the next time they produce the same dish. A little positive reinforcement goes a long way.
Hi Sandi,
I concur! We have to be our students biggest cheerleader and let our students know that we are pulling for them. I love to tell my students to keep winning!

Students need consistent positive reinforcement and I try to follow all comments or critism with something positive. I try to present obstacles, often perceived as negative, as positive opportunities.
Hi Brian,
Students want and need our positive reinforcement. We have to let our students know that they are good at what they do, and we are just trying to make them better. Positive reinforcement is a big plus. We have to be our students biggest cheerleaders.
