Students do come first, but we have to make them independent enough so that they are able to make it in the real world.

I tell students that your are expected to know how to be self reliant in the real world.
Sometimes putting the student first is letting the student fall, so that you can help them learn how to pick themselves up.
I do put the student first but the student does not always put them selves first. They have every excuse known to man why they can't do something instead of making the time for thier education. I always tell the students you will have plenty of time for your love life after you finish this program.
