it helps me to write things down on a notepad, and since I got my iPhone, I use the Sticky Notes App on my phone. I always have my phone with me, so it makes it easy for me to jot down tasks and prioritize...
I create a "things to do" list for big events in order of what needs to be done first (not necessarily what is most important) to organize the job, to be able to delegate easily and see that each item is done, that time is not wasted, and also to ensure I do not forget anything and that I finish on time or early, therefore I am never scrambling nor out of my wits.
Makeing a list keeps me organized so I dont forget things that need to be done for work and home.
Yes the "notes" section in our phones is a great tool but very unprofessional while in classroom.
Sticky notes work great Raquel. Some instructors like to stick them to their mirrors or computer screens so they are sure not to miss them!
Yes, I find that using sticky pads or a notepad helps me a lot. Keeps me organized and lets me check off what I have completed...
Sounds like a great approach Kelly. It's nice to get a clear inventory of everything in both our work and professional lives. Seeing everything on paper can help us feel more organized and in control.
It is helpful that I learned in this session to breakdown my list of priorities in order to accomplish tasks.I was a classic example of feeling overwhelemed due to trying to do so many things at the same time. This will definitly help me feel more at ease to accomplish tasks.
Making a "to do" list is a habit I adopted because my memory is not the greatest and it helps to make me feel a little less overwhelmed. When you get to cross things off the list, you think to yourself, "Now I’m getting somewhere". What I learned from this course is if you have a repeating/daily task, not to rewrite as many times as it occurs, but to write recurring next to it.
I like to use the "notes" section of my cell phone. It does appear unprofessional to be using my cell phone at work or in classroom, would you agree??
I have found using a schdduler very beneficial in improving my time management skill set.
Great question Fred. That really depends on how many tasks you typically get in each week and the complexity of those tasks. If you are slowly chipping away at only a few tasks every semester, no need to write the list over and over each week.
How oten do you make your to-do list?? Do you have a daily, weekly, monthly, To-Do list??
I have a daily and weekly To-Do list. I keep them on the computer which allows me to easily chnage the lists.
Making these lists helps me relieve my stress.
Thanks
Fred K
When I am feeling overwhelmed, or life just seems to be spinning out of control, I often times do make a "to-do" list. This has helped me in my younger days release what is on my mind reducing the stress and anxiety. From a pesonal standpoint, I find this helpful in my sleeping pattern.
Excellent to hear Russell! Sometimes the addition of a little technology can go a long way. While some instructors say technology complicates our lives by adding new expectations for our productivity, others are really able to harness its' power for good use.
i have never been good at writing things down , but i too am now an avid note jotter since i have gotten my iphone
