Stress and time management
Every teacher must be able to joggle tasks assigned for in such a positive way and equally efficient.
We can not let stress control us. We need to manage out time in such a way that also builds in the time to unwind/relax. We as instructors/professionals can not constantly be "on".
Where I have a problem is the 'guilt' of having a day off or not doing something related to work. How do you give yourself permission to have fun?
Sounds like a great approach and one that works perfectly for you Jodi. I too carry a notepad with me at all times. It's a great way to make sure you capture everything for the future.
I agree. I also find it essential that I carry a notepad around with me at all times. I find that always knowing I have paper with me to jot down a quick note or create a list of things I need to do helps me to not stress about task items as much. Working three jobs, being a volunteer and teaching three or more different courses at any one time, it is essential that I stay on top of my game and carrying a notepad helps me to do that.
These are both great tips Matthew. It's very important to get in front of our workload and make certain we don't take on too much. We've also got to set clear expectations for how much we have on our plates and how much we can take on in the future!
Angela made a good point regarding not taking onto ourselves more than we can bear. I sometimes have trouble with trying to control everything and have problems knowing what falls within my area of responsibility. In dealing with stress we should also remember to keep good communication with our employer and coworkers.
This is true George. And when you don't have to concentrate so hard on remembering list items, you have more bandwidth to focus on other things that matter.
Great comment! I feel that lists are a wonderful way to make sure that everything gets done. You really can't forget much with a list right in front of you.
By using lists to organize & prioritize, we can stay focused & feel confident that we are responding to the most immidiate things first
We must find ways and learn to prioritize our time in a way where we are being effectively beneficial to the ones around us whom depend on us. Also, being aware as to not overwhelm or over stress ourselves.
