Glenda,
I think we should always be on the lookout on how we can improve what we are doing.
Le Roy
Glenda,
You are sure right about the "time passing". I can't believe how fast it has flown by.
Le Roy
Glenda,
You are right that everyone can benefit form a TO DO list. Even if it is just a not on a piece of paper pasted to the computer screen.
Le Roy
Glenda,
I know that there are calendars available without spending a mint. I have a small day planner that I keep with me, not that I use it all of the time.
Le Roy
Glenda,
The notebook is a great idea and making notes in the margin will allow you to go back and see what you did if you have a similar talk come up in the future.
Le Roy
Dr. Read,
Some times when I make the list I will break it down listing work, CTU, and personal activites.
Le Roy
Based on what I have read here and what I have gleaned from the first couple of weeks of teaching this new course, I will be re-prioritizing some of my tasks. I now know that it will take me more time to effectively grade or prepare for somethings and less time for others. So, now I now what I can safely procrastinate on and what I need to do right away.
Le Roy,
That is a good idea. I know many have PDAs, but I like to open up a book and be able to make notes along the side and see them crossed off. This gives me satisfaction knowing what I have accomplished. Sometimes I look back to see how much I have completed.
I have always heard that AA personalities are the only ones that complete "To Do Lists". I think that anyone can benefit from these.
Thank you Le Roy. There are always some better ways to streamline our projects.
Yes. It seems like we will always say that I will get to that later, but it seems to get past us. My motto is, "Time passes on and waits for no one."
Now that we are at the end of the year, I am going to try to find a calendar that allows me to put in my appointments, my To Do List, and other notes on the side. With all of the new types of calendars available these days, I am sure I will find something that will have this type of information.
Islam,
I understand about the responsibilities of trying to get things accomplished along with having a family. Your strategy of scheduling and planning is critical.
Le Roy
Islam,
The TO DO list has helped me to keep better organized and get things done that need to be done on time. Having multiple list is probably a good idea, the only problem with that that I can see is that you have to keep them updated all of the time. Perhaps a PDA or if your phone allows it you could keep one list and thus be able to keep it updated and have it with you all of the time.
Le Roy
Glenda,
The "memory" list is something that I do all of the time. I have been writing thing down more and more, it does help keep me focused.
Le Roy
Glenda,
That is a very good idea of keeping a calendar and not only having a TO DO list but also to block out times.
Le Roy
Great strategy Le Roy. To do lists are highly effective during the holiday season as this can otherwise be a very stressful time. I might recommend trying to consolidate this list of personal activities with other activities that are work related. This way, you can see everything that must be completed all at once. This can be less overwhelming than managing multiple lists.
With 5 kids....moving things to tommorrow is my weakness. I found that scheduling and planning for a distrubtion...is a good strategy.

I have a bad habit of defering most of my tasks to a later time. Procrastination is my weakness. Even to do this training, I told myself...oh there is a lot of time left. But I learned to over come this weakness. A to do list is one way that i can prioritize my tasks..based on task urgency. Thsi to do list will also help me remember what i have to do. I found that keeping multiple copies of my task list posted around my office and home allows me to more effecient and use and manage my time wisely.
It sounds like you have been faithful using your To Do list. I also have used it more in the past, and have been doing my To Do list only in my head from memory.
I think it is better to write things down, so when you are done you have the satisfaction of crossing them off the list.
