To-Do or Not To Do "That is the question:)"

To do lists are great to follow. They keep you on track and they also keep you informed of what you need to do and what you have done. If you decide to delegate, the to-do-list will also be great for communicating with the person you are delegating pieces of the list to. Just remember once you have created the list it needs to be followed and don't overwhelm or overdo then it just defeats the purpose of the list.

Bj, Sounds like you've found a wonderful method that works for you. Thanks for sharing. Yes, task delegation is so important. Really helps lighten the load.

I have learned over the years, to always delegate out tasks in which other staff can be of help with. Reduces stress and work load, even though I am still responsible for the end reult(s).

Dionne, So true about delegation. Items on digital to do lists are so easy to distribute to others. When we make tasks sharable, we are much better able to enlist the help of others.

I love to do lists! This course is on my list right now!

School: I buy a simple college ruled spiral notebook for each term. Each class meeting gets a blank page in the book. I label the page with the class info and list the things I need to cover, including taking attendance, announcements, course subjects, and other items I want to share or administrative duties. Each item gets a blank line in front so I can check them off without marking through them. I refer to it throughout my day, even adding to it as the class explores other directions. The second third of the page is for recording grades for activities, small quizzes, or other information I need to transfer to my gradebook later. Finally, the last third is for journaling. I jot down students who had problems or messages I received, the tone of the day, things to review or ideas for a project. I can go on and on, but I live by that simple notebook. I keep them and refer to my journal to prepare and improve the classes the next time I teach them. I found that working with the notebook allows me the space I want/need as the class evolves from day to day, rather than using a datebook or other pre-printed journal.
