Task Immediacy

I agree with the module that task immediacy can make a career school instructor extremely tired by the end of the day. These types of instructors need to make to do lists and prioritize the items in their lists.

Peggy, I think there are a lot of instructors who are right there with you. We pride ourselves on organization but also torture ourselves with staying on task. I'm glad to hear you have hobbies to distract you. It's ok to get lost in them every now and then.

I am "so there" with you all. I find lists help me enormously, but I also suffer from "I can't rest because I know stuff has to be done" and I push on. I realize that taking a break helps, but it is a hard habit to break, especially since my son is an adult now and I have more "free time" to do other things. Also, it sounds cliche, but hobbies help a lot!

E., Sounds like you have a great system in place. Starting on Mondays helps you get a head start on the week. It's nice to get organized as early in the week as possible so everything downstream can go smoothly.

This is a problem that I have encountered. To me help deal with this issue, I have started to make a list every Monday of the tasks that need to be completed. Each task has a priority listed next to it so I know what needs to be done right away and what can wait. As I complete a task, I cross it off the list. At the end of the week, I am able to see what I have accomplished for the week. Seeing my accomplishments has been a big stress reliever for me and has made me more productive at work.
