overcoming obstacles

this has been a new way of understanding what the obstacles are and overcoming them, sometimes we arent aware of our obstacles, but once we can identify them we can come up with a plan of attack to overcome them.
my issue is the issue of immediacy, this information you have presented will definitely help me to recognize this and address it.

Traci, That sounds like a healthy approach. When we respect our own time and honor our needs, we are often in a better position to help others longer term. So while a bit of procrastination will probably feel a little uncomfortable to you at first, it will likely pay off in terms of your energy and effectiveness.

When reading this section, I realized that what I thought was a strength (not putting things off), has been wearing me out. I do everything as soon as I get it; grade papers quickly, return calls immediately, etc. From now on, I will start considering my own time, not just other peoples'.

April, Sounds like you know yourself well and what you need to change to become more efficient. I should note that some instructors seem to be only productive when they work in a high pressure environment. If this describes you, you might not want to change everything. Instead, just make small tweaks to optimize your productivity.

My obstacle is proscrastination. It seems I work better under pressure....somewhat like organized chaos. This forum has given me some excellent tools to avoid waiting until the last minute, while still feeling a sense of accomplishment.

I had a similar realization. My obstacle is with insecurity. My desk is always covered in papers. That is how I am the most productive so during the term there are stacks of papers on my desk. It's organized disorganization. The problem is that if I get a spare second, I feel the judgement for having a messy desk. Therefore, I'll push off other tasks to clean my desk, which gets me off track. Also, once my desk is "Clean" I can't find anything and I'm unproductive. This module has significantly helped me. It's not about how I do things, it's about what I'm doing. I need to stop focusing on my "mess" and keep focusing on my productivity.
