First day of class I actually give my students deadline for the project and insist them to write in their note books, so I can get it on-time before final grades. So projects are my first priority to grade ang give it them back on time.
You are correct smart phone is amazing thing. you can put you all the appointments and task in order to remind you, easy to carry around.
No I will not put away the task what is to be done now, for example grades for students. You have to put it on time, it can not wait.Paying a utility bill, you need to understand the urgency of it, otherwise you will be pounded with late fees.So basically to-do list is helpful, one can write his/her work in order from immediate to later on.I will never change the order of important and urgent tasks.
it helps them keep on track by learning how to or5ganize
So true Denise. I am lost without my to do list. I forgot to bring it to work just the other day and it was tough. These lists make such a difference on our productivity.

i will try to prioritize my task list better
Having a list/plan keeps me organized. I use a "To Do" list all the time because it keeps me from forgetting things that I am supposed to do, and to do them in the right order.
I definitely make a to-do list and it often stays there for some time because things of more importance with a higher priority must be done. I, like some of you, work well under pressure and I am able to complete projects better when I have a definite deadline.
I am the one who will do the fun things on the list first, then go on to the more challengeing projects. My defense is that these fun ones get me "warmed-up" to settle down into the groove of business. This does work for me a great deal of the time. I am pretty project oreinted and rarely do not get things done.
I'm the one that grades the papers as soon as they are turned in and also the one who does the fun stuff on the list first before getting to the more challenging tasks. I do look at the fun things as a "warm-up" to get me in the mood for the other things. Most of the time this works for me and I do get things done and on time. With this in mind, do I need to change?
Indeed true Paul. Sometimes when a task has been delayed for too long, it simply cannot be completed. It's important to start completing those kinds of tasks as early as possible. Often times, tasks require the input of others, additional research and much more to get done. It's not always as simple as just completing things. So we've got to give ourselves time and a little margin for error.

That's a great tip Matthew, thanks for sharing. Smartphones - as well as other technologies - are often designed with our organizational needs in mind. Often times, instructors already own all the equipment they need to benefit. It's just about learning more about what our technology can do for us. Taking some time to invest in learning more can save us a substantial amount of time in the end.

Sounds like a visual approach Tom and I like that a lot. For some instructors, visual methods like time lines work best in terms of putting things into perspective. The key is to learn about which method works the best for you.

I tend to put tasks off until they become urgent to complete. Prioritizing tasks according to their importance and urgency is certainly the best way to manage the time allocated to each.
I find it very useful to use my smartphone task application for my to do list, it allows my to set priotity and gives me alerts when a task is due
When I receive a new task to complete, I usually drop it in a timeline of other tasks. It's pretty easy to see where it fits in and to make time for it. I get the easy ones done first or mixed in with the hard ones. The harder ones can be broken down to smaller ones sometimes too.
I use the same lessons for each class but I use current issues that bring the lesson in line with current events.
I have been using my "Franklin" for years to help me plan my day, week, weeks, month and year. I like the fact that it provides a written road map of my daily life. I also like the "two-pages for one day" set up. It has a portion designed just for prioritizing my daily tasks and with columns that I can check off completed tasks and a place where I can put an "A, B or C" to prioritize each task.
Yes, it's great to be able to get to the nice-to-haves on your to do lists Wendy. That's when we really feel like we're making progress.
Taking on too much can be a big challenge Helen. It's important to push back when people give us assignments that aren't related to our primary job responsibilities - especially when we're too busy to handle them. Otherwise, we become overloaded and not able to take care of our core responsibilities.
