Time managment

I must admit that I am not the best when it comes to managing time. But I have found that setting a adjustable schedule and task list always helps with courses, life, and everyday task.

an adjustable schedule works best for me. I have a full time teaching position and also a part time position at two different school.Time management is the utmost importance to me. sometimes when i'm overwhelm I often have to reprioritize my to do list. and work through it. them take a long weekend to reflect.

I agree. Adjusting my schedule and making lists help me to be more productive. I can find time in the schedule to work alone which gives quiet time to complete my lists.

I too like to manage my time wisely. My way is to set up to do list and have priorities.
At the end I feel good as I have nothing hanging over my head. The reward is knowing that you have done a good job, the task is done and now you can do something else.

I can usually do a good job of time management until someone outside of my personal space decides something MUST be done immediately and on an extremely short deadline. Trying to re-prioritize everything when told "This must take precedence over everything else you have going on regardless of what it is in and of itself an enormous stressor. Classes and students don't wait for outside of class deadlines within the educational system. Trying to do what must be done for them while still accomplishing a monumental task with "higher" priority is proving to be a major stumbling block for me this quarter.

Migdalia, Interesting perspective. I like your new coding system and category for personality types! Sounds like you really know yourself, for better or for worse. That's a great first step in the right direction.

I guess I am both a type A and type c. I call it type C because I wait till the last minute to do some things. I "wig" out when I don't get to work atleast an hour early. I use that time as quiet time and preparation time. I have tried lists but they don't really work for me.Maybe I'll try them again.

If you have a job, you have responsibilites. Set your priorities and handle them in a timely manner just like showing up for work on time. Oh, and by the it's your job. I get tired of todays society making excusses, passing the buck, it's somebodys fault or just feel like doing something else.

DeVon, Interesting approach. I like the idea of setting reasonable expectations of ourselves and building a little wiggle room into our schedules. It sounds like you've accomplished just that!

Marcie, List making is a great way to get back in control of your time. It's ok to start small with a high-level list and work your way up - as the weeks go by - to lists that show greater complexity in what needs to be accomplished. You will feel a sense of relief as you write your list items down.
