Planning your task is crucial because it can be a road map for your overall day or week. As for me I tend to be more at ease when I set tasks. I normally check them off as I go. It also give me a sense of fulfillment when I achieve all of my objectives that I set. My task are set in order of importance also in long or short term goals. It can be difficult and frustrating when an instructor don't take the time to organize their tasks.
