Preparing for your day

Utilizing good time mangement is very important for an instructor to master. It sets the mood of your day. Everyone at some point might be late coming into a classroom without time to go through your lecture notes or syllubus. Its those times when the instructor feels unorganized and frazzled and the students will sense that. Try to set your schedule up the day before so they you can briefly review what needs to be done in class. Its a good idea to write on the board a list of topics that you will be covering during your class time so that the students will now exactly what is going on for that day.

agree. this helps a lot, keeps you organize and energize you for the evening class.

I agree with tis technique. I also take some time before class to prep and make adjustments and get the ball rolling the night before

Tom, It sounds like you are on top of things. Being organized at the start of your day can truly set the tone for the remainder of the day. It's a wonderful feeling to start organized and stay organized!

I'm always at school an hour or more before the beginning of my class to have all handouts copied and ready and organize materials and demo's to be used that day. Most days my classes are a combo of classroom and lab.

I also work afternoon/evening double in two different classes. This can cause some confusion on Mondays, for this is lecture in both. The rest of the weeks is taken up in lab exercises. I find that early arrival is my key. It allows me to get training aids in place for demo and also hand outs if necessary.

I teach an afternoon/evening class, so I prepare for my day by reviewing the night before, and then making any changes or adjustments to my day in the morning before class starts. I dedicate the first hour of my day reviewing for that afternoon's class. Setting aside that time each day helps me stay organized
