Lecture Preparation
I find that if you make notes that you can review as you are doing the lecture it helps you to remember everything and not leave anything out. Also highlight areas of importance. Most of the time all of the knowledge is in our head, we just have to remember to pass that info along to the students. That is where the cheat sheet can help.
True that. I use this technique as well. When questions or comments moves the lecture off the topic I can always go back to these notes to see where I am and how to refocus the class.
That sounds like a great method Billisha. Power Point actually has a feature that allows people to type notes into each slide. The notes don't appear during presentations. They just appear on presentation print outs.
I print out my powerpoints and make notes on them so that I know what to say when I'm on a particular slide.
more organized a person is it pretty much is always true they are more productive
Agreed! I too have discovered that students respond well to personal anecdotes. It puts the lecture information in a context that they can identify with and definitely facilitates learning.
Find a way to inject personal examples of the subject in the lecture, it can be on safety, effectivness, a mistake we may have made or saw a fellow worker make. These examples make the lecture more personal and a student can see a use for it
Indeed, it’s also a great way to warm up prior to a new lecture.
When I lecture I have found that if I lecture a subject and review what we have just tought before moving on more students retain the course.
Good points, even if prepared course work is adequate there are still some parts that may need extra explanation and its easy to overlook some things
