More organization in the components that I have to show would help to free up some time. I have decided to tag the components with tags that will give me some information and also with a color as to where it is in the powerpoint.

i agree, we need more computers in the lounge, with speakers. to keep organized i always check my e-mail first thing, then prep. for the class.

I'm guilty of checking my e-mail and voice mail several times a day. I will start doing it only once at day at 2PM. I also tend to re-invent the wheel when I teach a new class. I will look for some additional resources.

I can use file folders on the computer and use sub-files within the folders to better organize my material so I can find them easier when I need them and I can read my emails once a day at a scheduled time and make responses to the emails only once a day instead of reading and responding to the emails as I recieve them.

Sounds like a great plan Salvatore! Training aids are useful if only they are organized!

It sounds like you are very disciplined Joseph. Most people can't help but check their email multiple times a day, particularly if they have it on their mobile device.

I read e-mails once daily and only check mail box at one time a day.

I’m going to find time to organize our pass around training aids so they are easier to find. They have become rather a mess over time and it slows down the class prep.

Having more computers in the staff lounges so that prior to or between shifts one can do the things that need to be done on the computer.

You have a great system Lyle -- and I've seen this work well in many colleges. It's nice to be able to return to your space knowing that your materials will be waiting for you as you left them.

Since most of the instructors at our campus share the same classroom it is very beneficial to establish your space at the start of a class.
This way when you put things you use in a certain place you can easily retrieve them and not play a game of hide and seek.

The batch approach to responding to email can really work for some instructors Steven. Checking email only a few times a day can help us keep focused on our other tasks.

I can monitor my email and make responses only once a day instead of reading and responding to emails as I recieve them during the day.
