Office space
Office space; I do not agree with having dividing lines in a shared office. I believe in team work. Even though everyone has their own job, when a task need to be completed sometimes we have to invade others to be successful. Helping others with tasks bring team work together and help build camaraderie
Indeed! It's important to establish some ground rules when sharing any office space. It's also ideal to be paired with people who have the same organizational style as you.
Richard I have to agree with you, currently I have my own cubical however, with cut back I may have to share a space which Im not looking forward to but I know that I will have to step it up and keep my area picked up. Same goes for the other person.
Hey Richard… I have to disagree with you on this one. In reality a shortage of personal space at work can impact upon employee concentration level as well as increase their stress levels. I was reading an article in the Orlando Sentinel and it stated that 90 per cent of research, the outcome of working in an open-plan office was seen as negative. Open-plan offices caused high levels of stress, conflict, high blood pressure and a high staff turnover. Everyone can see what you are doing on the computer and hear what you are saying on the phone, and there is a feeling of insecurity.
Of course open plan office space is much more economically viable than each worker and/or department having their own office. It is my belief that traditional design (with private offices) is more effective. I believe that having an office environment that promotes health and high productivity would be more beneficial to employers in the long run.
