making time
Writing to do lists is the only way I can function.
sticky notes are a big help
Reminders are important for everyone. A reminder does not have to be a written note. It could be a higher technology alert such as a phone message or an email message.
I always make a to do list a priortize them by importance.
Me too, I have iCal and my computer and phone talk BUT I still have a paper trail. It works for me to see on paper everything I need to accomplish for the day, the week, the month. And every little check to a completed task is like a personal victory! I am glad to know that someone else feels the same.
I use a daytimer...still. It helps me set up my schedule and not to forget things I have to remember. I have found that writing it down helps me to remeber. If I don't have it with me I carry a pad in my pocket to jot down things and then transfer them to my daytimer.I prioritize after that and make sure i cross off what is done so I can visually see what I have done at a glance. This process has worked for me for years and keeps me from getting completely stressed.
Sounds like you've found an approach that works well for you Bob. Yes, some instructors are very much the fly by the seat of your pants type. It's hard to understand how they manage but some have working styles that work for them.
I make a written list, accomplish what I can, reprioritize for time constraints & simply move the left over to the following day. It works well, issues are handled, & I feel good about the accomplishment(s). I work with a number of people who seemingly “FLY BY THE SEAT OF THEIR PANTSâ€. From my perspective, it appears that there is always something lagging behind that gets overlooked. When I leave for the day, I need to know all that needed to be accomplished has been or some adjustment to the following day’s activities has been made to do so. Of course, at the beginning of each day, one must recheck the priority & make needed changes
I always write my notes before starting class. My class is based on lecture and hands on.It is easy to get distracted during production,so by having notes on paper,I do not forget things and stay better focused on the job. This does not take much time.
Thanks for sharing Cheryl. Yes, for some instructors, to do lists are an essential and they simply cannot live without them.
Yeah
Todo list helps piroritize my stuff and I can keep working on getting other tasks done once I have finished
