ORGANIZING SKILLS

Keeping yourself organized in your personal life will help you to be more organize as an instructor.
Coming up with different ideas about testing will help you to save time on your classroom activities so you will have more time for lectures and activities.

I "set the stage" by explaining to students that they are now teachers, and must assume the responsibility for accuracy. This is a quality that all students appreciate in their instructors.
This statement "raises the bar" and students do rise to the occasion!

I am not a teacher or lecturer at a school, but do something similar within businesses working with executives. Organisational skills and time management are one of the biggest issues I regular see degrading performance. I agree with Judy. Its assessing how we can help them (students/executives etc) that will ensure they can then focus on the learning. its really important. David

I have experienced both pros and cons to alllowing the class to grade the exam.I had to re-grade an exam recently because one of my classes did not under the concept of placing the number right over the total number of questions in the quiz.

Denise, Sometimes a little organizational advice can go a long way. As instructors, we are often frustrated when our students don't reach their highest potential. Sometimes we have to take a step back and understand that our course content may not be enough for them.

Teaching organizational skills in nursing school can be beneficial to the student for their classroom as well as clinical experiences. It can help reduce their man hours for preparation as well as free up more time for actual study. It helps them turn assignments in on time also.

I agree, if your personal life is organized and the stress level is low, it will definitely come across to your students that you are an organized, balanced person, which is a good example to set for them. The websites that allow students to go to for questions and answer sessions are a great idea to save the instructor time in the classroom!

Organizational tasks are overwhelming for many students. These skills need to be taught in small increments. We must provide strong support and reinforcement for mastery of small steps towards independence.

Teaching organizational skills is one of the skills that should be addressed in the individualized education program.

i regularly use student cross checking of answers but usually find students too liniant with each other, but does provide good feedback because theydo ask if questions are right or wrong which sometimes leaves the instructor feeling like she/he should grade them themself.
