Organizing tools

I am so very grateful that a coworker turned me on to a small expandable filing box that helps me to organize my entire session. Does anyone else have any helpful tips for a new instructor? This filing box has made my life so much easier and WAY LESS STRESSFUL.

using the expandable filing box helps give you easy access to papers for the student which can also show the student that you are organized

Most of the instructors in my department use an organizational tub per course. In this tub is everything any instructor would need to teach that course with a day to day calendar of the chapters, tests, hands on, etc for each day. All copies are already made and organized in folders within this tub. Powerpoints are kept in an electronic folder per chapter per course. If an instructor would need to miss class for any reason, any of us could grab the tub, look at the calendar, pull up the powerpoint and have everything right there and ready to go.

I have powerpoints and all quizzes and tests on saved on my computer according to the chapter, so when I open the file all is ready. I then have file folders that contain paper copies of test, worksheets, and keys to the tests all filed according to the chapters. Extra copies made so you dont use your last copy by mistake, saves on time.

Same basic concept. I have my file drawers organized by chapters in the text book. Any worksheets, quizzes, or tests for that chapter are in a folder together. When I'm close to starting that chapter, I just pull out the folder and make the copies I need.
