Streamlining Lecture Prep

With the amount of adjunct instructors it is interesting that there is not a concerted effort to have a "how-to" guide for lecture prep and this has been a very interesting lesson. I plan on sharing these strategies with new hires. By trying to establish a cultures of sharing, using existing resources by publishers, using templates, creating sources that can be used over and over, etc. it will help streamline the lecture prep process. Have you ever use publisher resources before? If so, how do students enjoy them? Do they wish that they included more of your expertise then that from a book?

That is a great point...as an adjunct myself, I would love to see something like a how-to guide for lecture (and curriculum) prep.
Are there such resources available? I suppose some of the Max Knowledge CEE courses may address these things.

David, That's a tough call. You might start by calling a meeting with the other instructor to share your expectations. Sometimes just being open and honest about what we want is the best approach. If this doesn't work, you may regretfully have to escalate to a supervisor.

Two of us teach the same class on alternating days. I usually teach the evening class while the other instructor teaches the day class. I have found that we both have valuable contributions to the course. In the effort of creating similar course material the other instructor insists on creating all of the material and course stratagies. I am finding this very difficult to adjust to in making the material my own without affecting the outcome. I'm not sure how to approach the other instructor since he is the acting department head.
