Sharing space

I share class room space with other instructors and space has become a problem. After reviewing this I plan to discuss this so we can each develop our own space.

My work environment is shared by many different people. I find it difficult to remain organized
when others can rummage around and relocate materials. I usually attempt to resolve this with
that person. If all else fails discuss with the boss how to fairly resolve the problem.

I also share a classroom and space is always an issue. We always work on a plan and it works for a short period of time and then back to the same issue. I hope we can come to an agreement and figure it out.

Communication is key when sharing space and working together. Unfortunately, we can only be responsible for keeping our own area organized. In the past, I shared a small office space with 4 women and I kept my area organized unlike some of my co-workers. I think the best way to address it is to express the concern to your boss rather than arguing with co-workers.

Robert, Interesting approach and one that probably works well when you have a place to lock up your belongings. When you don't, setting expectations may help too.

It sure is nice to have yur own space. With lock and key

I have a hard timewith people touching my stuff so I just lock it up and make sure that no one can get to it.

Melvin, Great to hear. Yes, sometimes just having a conversation with someone about space use can help a lot. You can really optimize the use of your shared space this way.

You best have a good sense of order and humor. What your space mate might feel as important to keep in the office and desk may not live up to your standards. First make sure you have equal amount of space for your belongings and buy a good set of blinders for theirs.
