Technology can really save time in the classroom. Students enjoy technology as well.

I find that there are varying degrees of competence amoung my students regarding new technology. I want to increase the use with some more "old school" options still in place.
Technology has opened up new worlds and taken us to places I could never have imagined in the classroom. It enhances and expands the "lecture" content of most any course by reaching many different styles of learners in ways that help them grasp concepts more concretely through realistic visual and auditory channels. We can now hear lung sounds and watch for proper placement of the stethoscope during a respiratory assessment in real world time, making it as close to hands-on experiences as possible. Without it in today's classrooms our students are bored. They need the stimulation they are used to in their everyday audiovisual routines. There's so many interesting and valuable resources available, but sometimes time I find it's quite time-consuming to filter out the good from the bad in deciding what to include in my lessons.
I think we are now being forced into the technology teaching arena. Students come in quite technology driven and savy. so it behooves the instructor to be about to be able to engage the student in a manner that is familiar and to them so that the learning can continue in what would now be the technologically normal environment. It offers a different flow of instruction information and research that is easily manipulated and understood by the learning student.
We switched to an Electronic version of our grade book as opposed to paper books. This saves a lot of time which can then be devoted to tutoring or class room prep.
Incorporating technology is important on many levels. One of the most important things to remember is that students are constantly using technology and they are very comfortable with it. By utilizing technology you are allow them to function in their world.
Technology can also be used as a demonstration tool. I use youtube all the time and allow others to demonstrate what I have taught or explained as long as it is done properly.
Students are constantly using technology for various things in their lives. It is a great idea to incorporate the use of technology in their education. I found that the blackboard/group discussion group using technology gets to students communicating and participating in discussion more than they do when they are in the classroom.
Good evening how are you hope all is well our students includes technology and they are more equipped to the information authorized by the students.
Philandria, Yes! Our students often respect our work more when it includes technology that they are familiar with.
