Long Commute
I have a 45 minute commute and it is a source of stress, in that I have to drop off my daughter at school on my way in and barely arrive on time in the morning. On the way home, it has me coming home after 7PM, which eliminates the possibility of eating family meals or spending much time with my wife and children. I often arrive home achey and irritable, and this is clearly attributable to stress (particularly from the commute).
Gary,
This would be my total stress factor, I admit I don't get too stressed. I moved to avoid communting, this would put me in an odd situation everyday at school.
It's what we convey due to irritable causes that we must watch.
Since I have other businesses that I own I must keep contact from those efforts only on non teaching hours/days.
that is so sad that your family eats without you...
My last move took me 9 months to find a place to rent because I wanted to be in the same neighborhood as my job. I found a place one mile away and it is wonderful to have such a short drive!
That's a tough problem Jonathan. Sometimes just leaving 15 minutes earlier or later from your scheduled departure time can make a big difference. If you have some flexibility, I would do some testing to see which specific time works best.
I have just started a new schedule and am now comuting home in the middle of rush hour. This was never a problem before. I wish i could stay longer at school till rush hour was over but that would be way too many hours away from home and responsibilitles of pets and family
Gary, I feel your pain! I not only must drive a 30 minute commute in the morning, but I then come home after 5 hours of teaching, spend a little time at home to take care of what I can, but then I drive back again during rush hour at 5pm and work till 11pm. Yes, this is stressfull and exhausting, but I have gotten use to working a split schedule. My family adjusted, and they eat without me. Thank goddness for leftovers!
