Most of us are exhausted after work. Not just physically exhausted, but mentally and emotionally as well.

I agree! Differentiate between things you can & can't control. Take responsibility for those you can & don't sweat it if you can't
I feel stress mentally then physically comes later, I mange them by doing a Breathing exercise, and lot of rest as soon I get home. Also listening to the music ease my stress away. Nice love song, inspire me and off-course singing along also helps.
It seems to me that people who are pessimistic and have negative attitudes are doomed as far as being stressed is concerned. Perception is everything so be optimistic and have a positive attitude and you will be relieved of most of your stress.

I agree with all three of these replys. We have to "take time to smell the roses".
And, a George Carlin said, "don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things!"
I love these - I think the world would be a better place if more people could do these!!
I think that relieving stress can also happen when we realize that there are some things we simply cannot change. Getting stressed out about things out of our control is useless, and remembering to laugh it off or at least try to put it in perspective is a great way to release the pressure.
The best medicine for life stress for me is to compartmentalize my obligations.
I don't take work home physically or mentally anymore.
I don't bring home with me to work either.
This requires retraining thought patterns in the brain.
Over time it gets easier.
Also, not reacting to everything around me at all times has helped tremendously!
