I like to take at least a 2 mile walk by myself to just free my mind of all the negative energy and things that have caused some tension on my brain (causing a headache). Listening to whatever wildlife that's around is soothing as well while I'm walking.
i play racquetball to help relieve my stress. it helps me mentally and physically release.
I like many of the responses on how to deal with stress. Personally, I began to realize that I need to take care of my self: "Take control of my time." I walk as a form of exercise, I do a to-do list, and I created a file organizer on my desk with "1" of them colored "RED." I make sure I complete the red file organizer on a daily basis and when I get home, I walk off in the form of exercise and decompress my day away......
I used to teach at a school that offered faculty a discount on student massage. I got about three per month and found that during that time, I had very few headaches and had a significant reduction in illness. I miss getting those regular massages!
I agree these are great stress relievers but how do you prioritize (or I should say "justify") going for a 2 mile walk when the "to-do" list gets to long?
I agree Joseph! Now if I can just learn to quit procratinating! and "deal" with the challenges.
I agree. If I didn't run every morning I would not have the stamina to face a long day of teaching. Running gives me the chance to reflect on my day and work through potential issues.
I believe that physical activity is the best reliever of stress. I run a mile a day, and I do about 20 minutes to a half hour of physical exercise. I actually feel disappointed in myself if I don't accomplish this on a daily basis. It is a tremendous stress reliever for me.
Yes, I agree Joseph. It's usually better to treat the problem itself instead of the symptoms.
There are many ways to relieve stress, while gardening in the desert (Phoenix) seems to be stressful at first glancce, I find that time flies and I feel one with the elements.
I think that when I am ready for my classes, when I have my lesson plans worked out, there is little to no stress.
While it is good to find ways to relieve stess, it is better to deal with the challenges so they do not produce stress.
Yes, I agree. Also, if you don't have a program in your college, take a look at the offerings of colleges near by. Discounts are often offered to the community.
If you have a massage therapy at your career college I would highly recommend using it. Most schools offer discounts to faculty and it really helps relieve stress
I am so grateful that what I teach is the best stress reliever of all - physically, mentally, spiritually = somatically. I teach Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Thanks!
P.S. Get a massage
These are all great stress relievers Stacy. Sounds like you have found a few things that really work great for you.
I find that yoga is a big help and when I don't get to go I can tell. I also try and curl up with my dogs or watch a movie with my kids or else I just keep this stupid laptop in my lap and stress about all I have to do!
